National Park Paklenica
Between the coast and the Velebit mountains, Paklenica brings together limestone canyons, forest paths and climbing areas. Velika Paklenica and Mala Paklenica offer different outings: choose a route for your group rather than assuming every canyon walk is easy.
For a family visit, plan a manageable walk with time to return. Hiking, climbing and a guided visit to Manita peć need different preparation. Check official park information for access, conditions and cave visits before leaving Seline.

Two canyons below Velebit
National Park Paklenica brings limestone cliffs, wooded paths and mountain terrain close to the coast. A visit can be a modest walk or a demanding mountain day. Decide which kind of outing you want before choosing an entrance.

Velika Paklenica
Entrance 1 leads into Velika Paklenica and is the usual starting point for walkers, family visits and climbers. The canyon is also the access point for longer routes. Start conservatively rather than assuming every path from the entrance is easy.

Mala Paklenica
Mala Paklenica has rougher, more demanding terrain and is intended for experienced hikers. It is not a casual family alternative to Velika Paklenica. Choose it only with suitable experience and a current route plan.

Walking and longer hikes
Choose a turnaround point that fits your group’s fitness and the daylight available. Longer routes into the mountains need more preparation than a canyon visit. Read our hiking guide before deciding on the day’s objective.

Climbing in the park
Climbing is permitted in Velika Paklenica, subject to park rules and current restrictions. Routes vary in length and difficulty. Beginners should arrange qualified instruction; all climbers need current route information.

Visiting with children
Plan around the youngest or least confident walker. A shorter outing with time for breaks is better than a rushed return. Check footing and shade as you go, and avoid promising children a cave visit before confirming its opening arrangements.

What to bring
Take water, food, suitable walking shoes, sun protection and navigation. An extra layer is useful when conditions change or you visit the cave. Pack for the return journey as well as the outward walk.

Weather and conditions
Check the mountain forecast and official notices shortly before leaving Seline. Heat, wind and rain can change the suitability of your plan. Choose a coastal day instead if the conditions do not suit your group.

Manita peć
The guided cave visit requires an uphill walking approach and a separate timing plan. Allow for the approach, entry arrangements and return. Check the official schedule and bring a layer for the cooler cave.

From Apartman Linda
Seline lets you keep beach and mountain days in the same stay. The park entrance is approximately 8 km from the apartment according to the property listing. Check your route to the intended entrance; the two canyons are not interchangeable starting points.
